Southern Designs by Shannon offers high-end custom horse show apparel at an affordable budget. Owned by Shannon Thrower of Aynor, South Carolina, Southern Designs was founded in 2016. What started out as just making show clothes for myself and a close friend, led to others wanting me to make them custom vests, shirts and showmanship jackets. Soon, I was making clothes for several breed show exhibitors and their trainers. Now I stay so busy making custom clothes, it’s very hard to keep very many items for inventory.
I grew up in the horse world. From the time I was a little girl, I loved everything about horses. From cleaning stalls, showing my own horses, as well as creating my own show clothing.
My love for horses and designing comes from my mother Debra Schmidt of El Paso, Texas. Debra has been sewing for over 50 years. She has worked professionally, not only making clothing, she also makes beautiful custom quilts and has a line of dog show collars in her Southern Designs SW store. About every other month, we fly to work together and are always coming up with new ideas and different trends. All of our clothes are custom made with high end Italian leather and Preciosa crystals. Together we make all the show clothes in either South Carolina or Texas.
Our Mission is to continue to make show clothing that stands out in the arena that you can be proud of.
